Brdo, Slovenia, October 2021; This year’s European Union Summit, held in Brdo pri Kranju under the auspices of the Slovenian Presidency of the EU Council, involved 33 leaders of member states and partners from the Western Balkans, and ten high representatives of international organizations in a total of 44 delegations. According to the head of the Secretariat for Organisational Implementation, Gregor Štajer, Slovenia hosted more than 450 participants. More than 350 journalists were also accredited to follow the event.

Considering the number of delegations involved, the EU-Western Balkans Summit ranks among the largest events so far. This was a demanding event at the highest level, where due to the large number of participants from different countries and the importance of the content, it was particularly difficult to ensure the seamless operation of the audio, video and multimedia systems.

At TSE, we provided the technical support and the smooth operation of all the communication systems.

The novelty of this year’s meeting was simultaneous interpretation from a remote location. For the first time, interpreters carried out their work from cabinets in Brussels. 28 teams of interpreters were uninterruptedly interpreting through fibre optic links from more than 1,100 kilometres away.

We are pleased that the meetings ran smoothly and without any difficulties. Participants were able to focus on the content without any interruptions. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, has also officially expressed her gratitude for an excellently executed summit.
